William (Bill) Philip Bohr, 80, of Pittsburgh, PA passed away on July 12, 2023, peacefully in his room at Holy Family Manor, a faith-focused personal care home.
Bill is survived by his two children Tarra and Rachel; their husbands Matt and Kevin; grandchildren Payton, Mackenzie, Brayden, Ethan, and Maia; sibling Margie; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Mildred and Philip; sister Eileen; and brother Philip.
Bill joined the Marines out of high school where he was decorated for his part in the Bay of Pigs Invasion. The most important aspect of Bill’s life were his relationships. The eternal loyalty and commitment shared by the Marines in their motto “Semper Fi” is analogous to the enduring love and care that he showed to his children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends. Not a day went by that Bill did not connect with his loved ones via phone or in person. He will be greatly missed.
Bill retired from Sani-Products Pest Control, where he enjoyed selling new accounts and serving customers, many of which considered him a friend. With “Bill the Bug Man” emblazoned on his uniform and bugs on the mind, from Pittsburgh to Nantucket, many would be beckoned into a conversation with Bill about their pests. In his personal life Bill had many passions. He was very talented at playing cards, especially ‘66’, pool, and horseshoes and enjoyed winning at them all. Bill was proud of his sobriety, which lasted over 30 years and he committed countless hours attending and leading AA meetings in the Pittsburgh area.
Family and Friends are welcome at the McDonald-Linn Funeral Home 529 California Avenue, Avalon, PA 15202 on Saturday July 15th. Viewing hours will be held from 1-5pm and funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in memory of Bill to It’s About the Warrior Foundation – www.iatw.us.
