Susan Satzer Wolff

December 14, 1951 – May 18, 2025

Susan Satzer Wolff passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, at the age of 73. In her final days, she spoke with grace and peace about “going home” to be reunited with her beloved parents, John and Norma Satzer.

A lifelong resident of the Pittsburgh area, Susan was a deeply engaged and generous member of the Ben Avon and Avonworth communities. She served as an Avonworth School Board member and was a founder of the Avonworth Fund for Educational Excellence, ensuring that all students had access to enriching opportunities during and beyond their time at Avonworth. Her love for learning and civic engagement also found expression through her active involvement in the Ben Avon Book and Garden Clubs, and volunteering for many years with Meals on Wheels in Emsworth, delivering not just food, but companionship and kindness to neighbors in need.

Later in life, Susan embraced the role she cherished most -- Zuzu -- as a devoted and joyful grandmother. Her love and playful spirit will live on in the memories of her five grandchildren: Mike, Ali, Ben, Albert, and Ollie.

She is survived by her daughter Emily Hickman (Richard), son Andrew Wolff (Lindsay), sisters Jo Gillelan (Ian) and Jean Satzer (the late Brent Campbell), and her grandchildren, who were the light of her later years.

Susan’s life was marked by curiosity, compassion, service, and a deep love for family and community. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, generous heart, and unwavering belief in the power of education and community connection.
