Obituary

Susan May Merkner, age 72 of Emsworth passed away at her home with her family by her side on Saturday, April 29, 2023. She was born on July 12, 1950 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late Robert and Patricia Jackson. 

She is survived by her beloved husband; Rev. Richard L. Merkner Sr.; six loving children, Michael Alexander (Sue), Tammy Alexander Oldenburg (Gregory), Emily Merkner Gorlewski (John), Carrie Merkner Walsh (Brian), Matthew Alexander and Richard L. Merkner Jr.; fourteen grandchildren, Elizabeth, Olivia, Dylan, James, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Ian, Vanessa, Amanda, Shaila, Paxton, Jacob, Joshua, and Zachary; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Kaylee, and Riley; Best friend, Bonnie Teckmeyer; and survived by many family and friends. 

Susan was a loving wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She had a tremendous creativity and eye for art and beauty. She will be remembered as very talented, loving, and caring. She was a true business woman and worked as a Real Estate Agent for Howard Hanna for many years before retiring. In her free time she loved to quilt. 

Burial will be private and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
