Rita K. (Kern) Neilson

Age 97, of Avalon, passed peacefully on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Beloved Wife of the late James R. Neilson. Also preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Mary Elizabeth Kern. Survived by her nieces Carolyn O’Connell, Linda Furr, Patty Kellerman, Judy Wojakowski, Sue Jansen and Naomi Vichich and nephews Jim Kern, Joe Kellerman and Tom Neilson. Also survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Rita is also preceded in death by brothers Clyde Jr., Paul, Vincent and sisters Elizabeth Kern and  Madeline Kellerman. Rita enjoyed her home, entertaining, gardening, crafts and traveling. Rita retired as a bookkeeper for U.S. Steel. Family and friends are welcome for visitation at the McDONALD-LINN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICE, LLC., 529 California Ave. Avalon, PA, 15202  on Friday September 17, 2021, 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon in the McDonald – Linn Chapel.  Burial to follow at Allegheny County Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the American Heart Foundation.
