Richard Henry Herchenroether, age 72 of Ohio Township passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023. He was born on October 18, 1950 and was the son of the late Henry and Nell (Young) Herchenroether. He is preceded in death by his brother Daniel Herchenroether.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Susan Herchenroether; two loving children, Adam (Rachel) Herchenroether and Rebecca (Daniel) Nelson; one grandchild, Hazel Nelson; brother, Peter (Susan) Herchenroether, sister-in-law, Wendy Herchenroether; brother-in-law, Bill (Linda) Uhl; and six nieces and nephews, Greg Herchenroether, Emily (Ernie) Holtzheimer, Ben (Katy) Herchson, Amy Herchenroether, Christopher (Maria) Uhl, and Ben (Rana) Uhl.
Richard served as a past President of the Avonworth Historical Society, Corporator, Trustee, and Secretary of Union Dale Cemetery, Member of Suburban Hospital Foundation, Board member of the Allegheny YMCA, Theta Chi Alumni Association - Zeta Lambda Chapter at Westminster, Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA), and a past Deacon of Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon. Professionally, he was a consulting actuary.
He enjoyed cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins, history, genealogy, family, good conversation, cooking, running, and boxing.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Community Presbyterian Church, 7501 Church Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15202. Family and friends are welcome for visitation at the church from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
