Richard David Grantz, age 81, of Franklin Park, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Born on January 17, 1944, he was the son of the late John and Clara Grantz.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Lee (Troha) Grantz; two children: Mark (Colleen) and Terry (Heather); three cherished grandchildren: Markus, Kelly, and Cailin; and his furry companion, Moose. He is also survived by his sister Carole and was preceded in death by his brother John and sisters Dorothy Kaminsky and Joan Stanley. He leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Rich was a lifelong truck driver. He retired from GNC in 2013 after logging over a million miles, but continued to work in the trucking industry until his passing. He was also a lifetime member of the Ohio Township Volunteer Fire Company, where he served for over two decades as an Engineer. If he wasn’t working on one of his classic cars, he was always helping fix anything with wheels (and props) brought to his garage by family and friends alike.
Above all, Rich loved spending time with his family and his dogs. He was known for sharing stories, his incredible work ethic, and dedication to family, friends, and faith.
