Michael Douglas Senn, 78, of Avalon, PA, was taken from us suddenly on Saturday afternoon, March 21, 2026.
Mike lived most of his life in Avalon. He played for the Avalon Panther's football team and graduated from Avalon High School in 1965. He started working part-time at George's Service Station on the Northside while attending drafting school. Upon graduation in 1967, he was drafted into the Army, spending part of his deployment in Vietnam. He was Honorably discharged in 1969 with the rank of SP4. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
After his service, he returned to work at George's, where he became a self taught auto mechanic. He worked there for decades until the station shut down. At this point, he and a friend opened their own inspection station that he operated until he retired. Until a few years ago he worked part-time as a driver for a dry cleaning service.
Mike was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed spending time at gun ranges. He would spend a lot of time with his younger brother, being a role model. They would go to see Studio Wresting, which Mike was a big fan of. He became his Boy Scout Leader, when no one else would step up. He was a long time member of the Slovak American Citizens Club in McKees Rocks, PA. He served as a Board Member there for over 15 years. He was very active and dedicated to the club. He took great joy in making their annual corn roast a special occasion for all. Mike was a kind and generous soul. He would be the first person to step up if someone needed help. During the holidays you would often find Mike outside Jack's on the Southside smoking a ham, while others prepared food inside. His goal was to make sure everyone had a place to celebrate the holidays. This was Mike!
Mike is survived by his siblings, Nancy Kozup Vrhovac, Goerge William Kozup (Amy), Tami Kozup Hurlbutt and Shari Kozup. He also leaves behind his nephews, Benjamin Kozup, George W. Kozup, Ryan Kozup (Keri), Jeffrey (JT) Hurlbutt, Nicholas Hurlbutt and his niece Jessica Kozup, his great niece Maya Kozup and great nephews, Benjamin and Luke Kozup.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother Catherine Louise Kozup, step-father George Kozup and his maternal grandparents William and Irene Goodhardt.
A Military Burial will be held on May 5, 2026 at 10:00 am at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA 15017.
