Mary Jane Mahoney (Downs)

September 6, 1954 – October 4, 2025

Mary Jane Mahoney, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at the age of 71.

She is survived by her loving husband, Douglas; her children, Brad Barnes (Stef) and Kathy Lee Tedesco (Andy); and her five cherished grandchildren: Lily (Parker), Andrew, Ben, Avery, and Matt. Also her great-grandchild Malakai.

She is also survived by her brother PJ Downs (Pam) and many nieces and nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, James and Charlotte Downs, and brother, Jim Downs (Cathy).

Mary was a graduate of Avonworth High School in 1972. She had a long and successful career in customer service, but her real passion was her family.

She made it a point to maintain very strong and deep relationships with each of her kids and grandkids as well as her extended family and friends. She was always a phone call away and would talk as long as they wanted … and more! Those talks will be greatly missed.

She left us with countless “Maryisms” like “Catasulk,” “Prentzel,” “Chunky Cheese,” etc. If you know, you know!

While we are very sad and grieving right now, we are extremely grateful to be so loved by such a wonderful woman.

There will be a memorial service on Tuesday October 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Bellevue Christian Church 680 Lincoln Ave. Pittsburgh, Pa. 15202. Followed by a celebration of life.
