M. Lauretta Brandon, age 95 of Avalon passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024. She was born on May 5, 1929, and was the beloved wife of the late W. Wayne Brandon.
Lauretta’s family will remember her as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was witty and fun-loving; always ready to stop and chat with anyone she met on her daily walks. She raised three children amid years of volunteer work. A member of Greenstone Methodist Church and a volunteer at the Eastern Star Home and the Avalon School District. She was known for her amazing snickerdoodle cookies and pumpkin pies.
Survived by her children, Darryl (Heidi) Brandon and Dawn (Charles) Shaw; grandchildren, Jake, Dylan, Matt, Samantha, Nate, and Rachel; great-grandchildren, Eóghan, Miles, and the newest due in September; niece and nephew, Jane McClure and Derran Wimer; and many family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, John and Harriet Wimer; her son, David Brandon; and her siblings, Ken and Geraldine Wimer.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 2:00pm until time of Service at 4:00pm at the McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, 529 California Ave., Avalon, PA 15202. Burial will be private at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
