Lawrence W. Tarrant, MD (Larry or Doc to his friends), age 85 passed away on Monday December 10, 2024 at Allegheny General Hospital. Larry was a resident at the Community at Holy Family Manor for the last 16 months after moving from Cranberry Township, PA. He had lived in Parkersburg, WV; Flint, MI; and Royal Oak, MI. He was the son of the late Eugene and Esther (Fuller) Tarrant. Larry is survived by his five loving children, William (Carrie) Tarrant, David (Heather) Tarrant, Stephen (Jenny) Tarrant, Anelisa (Heike Hartmann) Tarrant, and Michael (Heidi) Tarrant; eleven grandchildren including William II, Ashley, Sophia, Andrew, Avery, Allison, Christian, Natalie, Sophia, Bailey, and Kaitlyn; and three sisters Joy (Vern) Klimecky, Judy (the late Tom) Sharpe, and Carolyn (Gary) Adrianson. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon (Tippett)Tarrant whom he adored and shared 57 years.
Larry was a member of St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church where he faithfully attended services every Sunday and participated in the monthly men’s breakfasts. Larry was a plastic surgeon for almost 50 years, and was an adjunct professor at West Virginia University Medical School where he loved to teach. He enjoyed singing in his spare time and sung in numerous church choirs as well as several barbershop quartets and ensembles. He was a devoted family man and took great pride in watching it grow through the years.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 1, 2025 at 12:00pm at St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church located at 2365 McAleer Rd., Sewickley, PA 15143. Family and friends will be received one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Community at Holy Family Manor in honor of Lawrence Tarrant, 301 Nazareth Way, Pittsburgh, PA 15229.
