Giovengo (Love)
Kathleen Mary
Kathleen Mary (Love) Giovengo, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and quiet grace that will forever guide those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Born on July 28, 1938, in Pittsburgh, Kathy was raised in the Ben Avon and Avalon areas. She attended Assumption Elementary School and St. Benedict’s High School. She enjoyed a happy childhood and lovingly helped her parents care for her disabled brother, Billy—an act she considered both a privilege and an honor.
Kathy’s faith was a guiding force throughout her life starting with her Catholic upbringing and education. Once married she became an active and devoted member of the Sacred Heart church of Emsworth, where she found strength, purpose, and fellowship, including many years in both the Ladies Auxiliary and choir. Kathy was very proud of her Irish heritage and one of the highlights of her life was her trip to Ireland with her cousin Margie and niece Julie.
She is survived by her devoted husband, John; her children, Mary Osche (Jay), John Giovengo (Marcie), Doug Giovengo, and Lee Boaks (Jim); and her eleven grandchildren—Natalie, Holly, Elizabeth, Matt, Kirsten, Adam, Alaina, DJ, Abbey, Ben, and Sean and 2 great grandchildren, Aurora and Amelia—who will forever hold her memory close in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (Daisy) Love, and her beloved brother, Billy Love, whom she now joins in peaceful rest.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the McDonald - Linn Funeral and Cremation Service, LLC 529 California Avenue, Avalon PA 15202. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at her lifelong parish, Sacred Heart Church, 154 Orchard Avenue, Emsworth.
Though Kathy is no longer with us in body, her spirit remains woven into the lives she shaped. Her love lives on in every shared story, every memory made, and every act of kindness done in her honor.
She will be missed more than words can hold.
May she rest in God’s eternal peace, reunited with those she loved, and welcomed home by the Lord she faithfully served.
