James Sipes Obituary

James A. Sipes Sr., age 93 of Ross Township passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024. He was born on October 9, 1930 and was the son of the late William and Anna Sipes.
Beloved husband of the late Eileen Juanita Sipes; loving father of Eileen (Sam) Sipes, Gloria J. Sipes, Nancy L. Sipes, Jamie A. Rusak, James A. Sipes, Jr., and Roy S. Sipes; three grandchildren, Jim “Tank” Rusak, Jordan Rusak, and Shauna Sipes; eleven great-grandchildren, Haven, Faith, Hope, Holden, Ethan, Shaylin, Skyler, Brayden, Alajah, Allie and Callen; two sisters, Dorothy Parker and Anname; and survived by many family and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife he is preceded in death by his brother William Sipes and Richard Sipes.
James was a United States Sergeant Major in the Army where he served his country for over 30 years and was a Korean War Veteran. After he retired from the military he loved to work and worked at Head of Security for the Civic then Mellon Arena, taught meat cutting at Steel Center Votech School and he was a proud retired member of IATSE Local 3. He was a member of Bellevue U.P. Church and in his free time he enjoyed going camping, fishing, metal detecting, and Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey. James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and loved his family so much he worked three jobs at once to take care of them. He will be greatly missed.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 10:30am at the National Cemeteries of the Alleghenies. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday May 11th at 11am at Bellevue United Presbyterian Church.
