James P. Russell III

James (Jim) P. Russell III
August 15, 1947 – February 26, 2026
Jim, of Pittsburgh PA, passed away after a long illness surrounded by his family.
Jim was raised in Ben Avon Heights. He attended Avonworth High School, Kiski School,
and Denison University. He served in the Army and was a partner at the Russell Index
Company.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents J. Parker Russell Jr. and Elizabeth (Betty
Jane) Russell, his sons Robert T. Russell, and Benjamin Thomas, his brothers-in-law
Robert Thomas and Charles Siderits.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Leslie Thomas Russell, his son J. Parker (JP)
Russell, IV, his brother John H. Russell, and his dog Bea.
Jim loved and cherished the time he spent with his family. He was an avid reader, a
dedicated sports fan, and loved playing golf, paddle tennis, and bowling. Jim served as
a Deacon of his church and served on the Board of Trustees of Union Dale Cemetery.
A private burial service will be held at Union Dale Cemetery. Please join us for a
Memorial Service in celebration of Jim’s Life, Saturday, March 14th at 12 PM at the
Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon (CPCBA) a reception at the church
immediately following. Remembrances in Jim's memory may be made to the
Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon or a charity of your choice.
