Gloria (Dolly) Hanselman, age 94 of Pittsburgh passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 24, 2022 following a brief battle with pneumonia.
She was born to the late Anna (McGowan) and James Ellenberger.
Gloria graduated from Allegheny High School in 1945 and in 1948 graduated from Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Nursing, She was in the Nurse Cadet Corps.
Despite her hectic schedule, family and friends were Gloria’s passion and delight. She spent most of her nursing career at Suburban General Hospital in Bellevue. After she retired she was the first Site Manager of the Avonworth Meals on Wheels. She loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, and needlework but her main focus was her family and church.
Gloria was preceded by her loving husband of nearly 69 years, Jack Hanselman. She was the adored mother of Bonnie (Frank) Glazer, Sherri (Greg) Conner and Jack (Jani) Hanselman. She was the proud grandmother of Frank (Andrea) Glazer, Ryan Hanselman, Marty Mazie, and Katie (Brian) Gillum and sweet great-grandmother of Oliver Mazie, Aydan and Ethan Gillum and Greta Glazer. She is survived by her loving brother James Ellenberger and sister-in-law Rose Marie Ellenberger.
She is predeceased by her sister Irene Little. She is also survived by her loving adoptive family originally from Beijing, Sulan Zhang, and Shiming Wang and their daughter Julia (Kristian) Wang Karlshoj and their two children.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Brookdale Senior Living of Mt. Lebanon who lovingly cared for Gloria for the past year. Thank you also to the St. Clair Hospital Hospice unit for compassionate care as well as Gallagher Home Care and Hospice.
Family and friends will be received from 1:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the McDonald-Linn Funeral Home Inc., (529 California Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15202). Masks are appreciated. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 29 at 11:00 AM followed by interment at Allegheny County Memorial Park.
