Florence D. Ray

Florence D. Ray, 84, of Ben Avon and Avalon, PA, passed on Friday, April 27, 2012, into the loving arms of her Lord; her husband Homer F. Ray, Jr; her son Todd A., and many other family and friends who have gone before her. Flo was an incredible Mother, Aunt, Grandmother and friend to many. She is survived by her children: Homer F. III (wife Ellen and sons Homer IV and Christopher) of Nantucket, MA; Forrestt E. of Avalon, PA; Leon F. (wife Tammy and daughter Chloe) of Augusta, GA; and daughter Virginia K. of Port Hadlock, WA (formerly of Juneau, AK). She is also survived by her beloved niece Emma Ann Olsommer (husband Robert) of Lake Ariel, PA; grand-niece Terri Ann Mecca (husband Karl, children Andrew and Jenna) of Cabot, AR and nephew Gordon Engle (wife Catherine, sons William and Peter) of Dudley, MA. There are too many friends and loved ones to list, but Mom's closest friend of over 40 years was Betty Haughin of Zelienople, PA. A memorial celebration of Flo's life will be held Sunday, June 3, 2012 in the Emsworth United Presbyterian Church, 73 Hiland Ave., Emsworth, PA 15202. A reception will be held from 12 p.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to thank the wonderful staffs of UPMC Passavant Unit 3 West and Gateway Hospice for taking such good care of Mom and us the last week of Mom's life. We would also like to thank the caregiving staff of Paramount Senior Living in Mars, PA for their loving care of Mom for the past two years.
