DONALD B. SPEICHER Age 92, of Ross, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, February 27, 2020. Husband to the late Carol H. Speicher; father of Sally H. Speicher and Diane S. (Patrick) Maxwell; proud grandfather of Caroline B. Maxwell; brother of the late Jerry Speicher and the late Robert Speicher; son of the late Jacob and Marian Speicher; also survived by several nieces and nephews and other family members. Don was born in Ben Avon in 1927. He spent his happiest childhood years with family in the Somerset area, before returning to Ben Avon to graduate from Avonworth High School in 1946. Don traveled extensively early in adulthood, making two separate round-trip automotive drives on his own between Pittsburgh and Alaska in the 1950’s (when cars were far less reliable, and the roads through Canada to Alaska were primitive). As a young adult, Don also worked at such diverse professions as raising horses and agricultural landscaping. Later, Don settled in as a very successful automotive sales professional, serving many area automotive dealerships in a long career, most recently with Don Allen Chevrolet in East Liberty. In retirement, Don enjoyed taking meticulous care of his lawn, reconnecting with family members from Somerset, and doting on his granddaughter. Don was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; a loyal friend and reliable neighbor; and a faithful Christian.
