Brian Scott Kording, age 80, of McCandless, PA and Fort Myers Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Born on June 28, 1944, he was the son of the late William G. and Mary Elizabeth Kording.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Judy (Krah) Kording; three children: Brian Scott Kording Jr. (Margo), Sandra Mammay, and Michael Kording; three cherished grandchildren: Tyler Mammay, Marissa Kording, and the late Joshua Mammay. He is also survived by his brothers William Kording and Jeff Kording (Heidi) and was preceded in death by his brother Robert Kording. He leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Scott dedicated his life to public service and law enforcement. He began his career as a fingerprint technician with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where his training earned him the distinction of fingerprint expert. After several years, he returned to the Pittsburgh area and joined the Allegheny County Detectives Division.
In 1968, he was hired as a patrolman in Ohio Township. He was later promoted to lieutenant and, in 1977, named Chief of Police—a role he proudly held until his retirement on December 31, 1995. Over his 27-year career with the township, he built lifelong friendships and left a lasting impact on the community. One of the proudest moments of his professional life was attending the prestigious FBI National Academy in 1980, where he completed a rigorous 12-week leadership course focused on all aspects of law enforcement.
In retirement, Scott enjoyed fishing and captained a charter fishing boat on Lake Erie. He and Judy loved traveling, visiting wineries, and embracing new adventures. They began vacationing in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, in 2008 and made it their second home in 2015, forming many treasured friendships.
He was a proud life member of the Allegheny County and Western Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, a member of the FBI National Academy Associates, the North Hills Township and Boroughs Police Association, North Hills Lodge 716, and the Ohio Township Volunteer Fire Company.
Above all, Scott loved spending time with his family. He was known for his warm heart, sense of humor, and incredible storytelling, especially tales from his many years in law enforcement.
