John Luciano Alongi

Age 89, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Winthrop, MA, on April 26, 2017.  John Luciano Alongi, dear father of Georgianna Dell (William, II) of Pittsburgh, Robert J. Alongi of Columbia, MO, Constance Legrys of Pinellas Park, FL, Margaret Powell (Richard) of League City, TX and the late Judith Zunic; grandfather of Antony, Shaun, Evan, Sadie, Brady, Jacob, Jacquelyn, Randy and Sarah; great-grandfather of Waylon and Lucille; preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Alongi; also survived by three nieces and a nephew.  Mr. Alongi was a Veteran of WWII and Korea having served in the U.S. Army and played in the Army Band.  He was employed by the Elwin G. Smith Company, where he ranked 5th in seniority.  For over 42 years he volunteered for the Emsworth, Aleppo and McCandless Volunteer fire departments.  Mr. Alongi was also a member of the Ambridge American Legion Post 341 and West View VFW Post 2754.
